Short-Term Rental Design VS. Home Interior Design

STR & home interior design are very different. In STR, we are looking at the space through the lens of the guest experience, the business plan & budget, and the turnover process. Here are some of the questions we ask ourselves when designing STR spaces:

Stand Out

How will this space grab the renters attention? How will it photograph? How can we use these rooms to make the guest experience fantastic? How can we entice guests to book?

5-Stars

What do we know does well in other properties and how can we do BETTER? What is going to wow the guest & having them ravving about the space? Are we thinking out of the box and themed, or are we going a more traditional style route?

Budget & Quality

How can we design this space to be cost effective? Where can we be budget friendly? What items will we make sure are of the highest quality? Where can we meet in the middle? Do we want to use antiques, refinish, and/or source locally?

Turnover Process

How can we make the process as smooth as possible for the turnover crew and management of the property? What fabrics do well with stain treatment? What surfaces are gorgeous and easy to clean? What colors & lighting can we use to maximize cleanliness.

  • Meet / Intro

    During this meeting, we discuss client goals, timeline, and budget. We want to get a good idea of the scope of the project. We will provide ballpark quotes, services, and timeline for your design.

  • Design

    We get started right away on the virtual design process. We create boards on professional design platforms and make spreadsheets linked to items to purchase. This is done behind the scenes.

  • Feedback & Approval

    We will create a presentation and schedule a meeting to go over details. allowing our clients to give feedback and stay up to date. We can have several meetings to adjust the design.

  • Virtual - Finalizing

    Once we have received final feedback, we will gather all details and send it to you! You will then have all of the information needed to complete the ordering & set up process.

  • Full Service -Finalizing & Install

    If full service, our team or the client will start the ordering process. We will schedule and start prepping for install! Once installed & cleaned, your space will be guest ready!

  • It’s a modern way of working with an interior designer. All communication, mood boards, floor plans, shopping links, spreadsheets, and all other projects are delivered digitally, along with instructions on the easiest process to complete.

  • Virtual allows us to use our skills to assist clients no matter the distance!

    Full service is a hybrid of virtual and in person designing. We can apply our design first hand.

  • Absolutely! We can be neighbors and still design virtually.

  • Yes, and we LOVE traveling. In state is easier, of course, but we’re willing and able to travel to states surrounding Ohio as well!

  • The cost depends on a lot of factors. When pricing, we’re considering square footage, how many outdoor spaces will be designed, if the owner needs help with a partial design, finishing touches, or needs the space fully furnished.

    Looking at the total budget, interior designers are roughly 10% of that price. Let’s say a design allots $14,000 in furniture and decor, we would charge roughly $1,500. However, this is not always the case!

    2 bed / 1 bath $2500

    3 bed / 2 bath $3500

    4 bed / 2+ bath $4500

    Each space’s needs are so different. The best way to get an accurate price is to set up a free consultation with us!

  • How long it will take depends on several factors. We consider square footage, the level of design needed, how many rounds of feedback are needed before finalizing the design. In general, you can expect the design portion of your project to take 1-6 weeks.

  • In addition to specializing in STR design, we also co-host, photograph, and turnover properties. Not only will it connect you with other services at a discounted rate, but we understand what your property needs to be successful. We can design with all aspects of the industry in mind. The design needs to stand out and be functional for guests and cleaners.
